Yacht charter service makes debut on Savannah waterfront with trips to Daufuskie Island

A private charter yacht service, the Whitman Yacht, made its debut on the waterfront of The Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa on Tuesday evening as a collaboration was announced between the yacht, the resort and The Bloody Point Golf Club & Resort on Daufuskie Island.

The Whitman Yacht, which is part of the Whitman Hospitality Group, offers private charters on the 47-foot sailing vessel.

Beginning this week, the yacht will be moored at The Westin Savannah Harbor to give guests a taste of the options available to them, ranging from sunset cocktail cruises to a full day of hands-on sailing.

In addition, the yacht will be working with The Westin Beach Club’s Daufuskie Island team to offer charter options starting from the island’s Bloody Point dock.

“For guests from around the world to experience our local waterways on a luxury vessel, this is a great new offering,” said Mark Spadoni, general manager of the Westin Savannah Harbor.

Kevin McCarthy, owner of The Bloody Point Golf Club & Resort, said Daufuskie Island is a natural connection for the yacht and its sailing experiences.

The yacht’s owner, Steve Buckner, has named Bennett Bacon, who grew up on Tybee Island and in neighboring Macintosh County, to run the day-to-day operations of the charter service.

The yacht is available for half a day, a full day, a week or longer with prices beginning at $750 for a half day for up to six guests.
